we are here in Knoydart with the most beautiful sunshine, which thankfully keeps the midges away:) And we have a great time exploring Shiatsu from the intuitive to the rational and back again. A magical place like Knoydart and people from Denmark, Holland, South Africa and Scotland and Norway make for a great experience. Laid back and out of normal time:)))
maybe a good place to come back to and practice Yoga here as well!!!
Emma Isokivi from Edinburgh will be our guest Teacher at Love Yoga Studio from Sunday 12th July till 24th July. She will be taking the Mysore mornings at the usual times for those two weeks as well as holding a workshop from 10-12.30pm on Sunday 12th July, which will be working with Hips and we might include some pranayama. Cost for this will be £25 and booking is are required, PLEASE book rather than just turn up.
If you are currently participating in the Mysore program at the studio I am sure you will get some new input from Emma and if you haven’t been for a while please do come along, if you feel pulled and pay only half the monthly fee for those two weeks!!! Maybe we can entice you back!!!
I thought it might be a nice change for all of us doing the Mysore program on Sunday to tailor our practice so we finish at 9am. Because the Summer Solstice is a celebration of the longest and hopefully sunniest day of the year I want to chant the Gayatri Mantra for a little while after practice (we might end up with some of us chanting this whilst others finish their practices. The Gayatri Mantra is usually song in the morning to celebrate the return of the sun (light) and I like to use it and the chanting to meditate on Light in our hearts and if you feel drawn and inspired you will send love and light to someone else during the chanting.
on Sunday 14th June Gills Taylor will hold the Intro to Mysore workshop from 2-4.30pm at Love Yoga (cost £25). The workshop is intended for those that think about joining the Morning Mysore program and are not sure about the form of the Primary Series or what’s required, as well as for anyone wanting to learn the beginnings of the Primary Series in order to either continue with Ashtanga evening classes at Love Yoga or elsewhere.
if you think of attending, please let us know, that would be nice:))
from Sunday 12th July till 24th July we will have the pleasure of welcoming Emma Isokivi from Edinburgh as our Mysore Guest Teacher.
She will be running our morning mysore program and a few extra sessions during her stay with us. Based normally in Edinburgh, she runs the midday and evening mysore program at Meadowlark, which caters for both beginners and experienced students. She began practicing yoga in 2006 (Bikram, Moksha, Sivananda) and a daily Ashtanga practice in 2011. She has had the honour of studying and assisting with several senior teachers, but calls Sarah Durney Hatcher and Sharath Jois her teachers today. As a student she is committed to practicing at ‘the source’ and returns annually to KPJAYI, the last trip returning in February 2015 after 2 months of study with Sharath Jois. As a teacher, Emma is dedicated to encouraging students to build a daily practice that can support and enhance their daily lives.
Aside from the yoga mat- you can find Emma making printwork in her studio, rock climbing around Scotland or explore new areas on her bike!
She will start with the Sunday morning Mysore session, which will be followed by a workshop. So watch this space for more details on that one.
This stint should give us all at the studio a time to practice with someone who is practicing in line with the tradition which Sarah held so beautifully and clearly. I am sure we will all learn a few new ways of listening to ourselves, to listen within and enjoy our practice held and presented with a different flavour of energy.
Sarah’s workshop has been re-scheduled for Saturday 8th August. All the details from the workshop stay the same and will re-appaear on the Love Yoga website.
If you have been booked on the original workshop please confirm that you will join this time, otherwise book with me anyway!!! maximum numbers 25 people (if I can help it!!)
8am -2pm; Cost: £45
on Sunday 31st May Sarah will teach a workshop on the Ashtanga Standing Sequence from 10-12pm at Love Yoga; cost: £15
this workshop was put on the agenda simply because sooooooo many of you wanted to study with Sarah and her workshop on Saturday 30th has been full for ages, so here we are:))
Please book with me or Rebecca so we can manage numbers ok
Payment can be done over the web as usual or, since its a bit short notice now, just let us know that you are joining, and pay no the day. BUT do let us know!! Thanks
Gills just had the pleasure of meeting some of you who are interested in the (Ashtanga) Mysore style practice.
I just want to take this opportunity to mention that this Intro workshop can be taken by anyone wanting to do some more lengthy Intro into the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, it is not only for those that think of embarking on the beautifully early (or slightly madly early, depending on what you like!!) practice of Mysore Yoga. You can use the Intro also to join other other Ashtanga classes at the studio and it will give you a feeling for or a glimpse of how one might, as gently as possible, enter this interesting and strong form of Yoga and what you will naturally find, and hopefully appreciate, that every teacher will have their own bit of a flavour on how its done or talked through, yet it clearly is the same form.
enjoy your Yoga, wherever you enter it
a big Thank You to Peter Govan for holding a wonderful and nourishing workshop at our studio over the weekend (11/4), plus a well attended concert in the evening.
he will be back in Aberdeen for the next Aberdeen Health Fair in October (3/4) and we will make sure that we will have another concert somewhere, if not at Love Yoga.

To celebrate the passing of 2012 and welcome in 2013 we’re offering a special evening event on Friday 21st December from 1730 – 2000 in the studio.
We’ll do some strong, purifying yoga, followed by a wee deeply relaxing practice, then we’ll do some chanting and a lovely fire ceremony* to help us let go of things we want to release and welcome in things we’re looking to bring into our lives. We’ll round up with a short meditation practice before having a cup of tea and a snack. We won’t be charging for this evening, but we’ll have a donation bowl available.
The timings are as follows:
1730 – 1815 Strong, purifying yoga (with Rebecca)
1815 – 1900 Deeply relaxing yoga (with Martin)
1900 – 1930 Chant, fire ceremony* & wee meditation
1930 Cup of tea (please feel free to bring a snack to maintain blood sugar levels!)
Book with us through Love Yoga
*The fire ceremony involves writing down three things we’d like to be free from or let go of and three things we’d like to welcome in to our lives, then burning the paper to release this intention into the universe and let it happen.
