See you in the next life – sad news about Paul Van Lamsweerde

I’m deeply saddened to report the passing of a regular and well-liked attendee at the studio – Paul van Lamsweerde was unfortunately killed in a ski accident in the south of France.

Paul was out skiing on his own in one of the resorts which is glaciated and he hit the wall of a crevasse and died from the impact.

His friend Ross Hewitt has written a lovely eulogy which you can access here –

Martin’s back from Bolivia!

IMG_2054Our favourite laid-back, Yin-tastic, ‘be-with-how-things-are-now’ teacher and studio owner is back from his well-deserved trekking holiday in Bolivia.

We’ve missed him and we’re glad to have him back sharing his grounded stability and gentle, open-hearted teaching!

Make the most of the chance to learn from his vast experience in either his deeply-opening Yin classes or his fun, explorative Dynamic classes. Both have the potential to take your practice to new depths and heights!

New Wednesday morning Yoga Dance class

Natalia Alvarez will be starting a new Yoga Dance Class on Wednesday mornings from 0930 to 1040.

Expressive and Corrective Yoga Movement (ECYM) is a very active and dynamic Dancing Yoga that helps build flexibility, strength and body awareness. Classes are a fun and effective way to get fit, improve posture, become more flexible, look after your mind and body, relax, express yourself and view life more positively.

Every class focuses on a specific chakra, exercising and stretching different muscle groups to get that specific energy flowing better. When this happens, not only does our body benefit, our mind and attitude to life can improve too.

Natalia is an experienced Dancing Yoga teacher and an accredited Body Therapist under System of Centers of Energy (Sistema de Centros de Energía) Dr. Hugo Ardiles School, Buenos Aires. She also holds a PG Certificate in Coaching (University of Aberdeen).

Monday Evenings – Slight time tweak!

Hello Monday evening yogis!

As you know, the turnaround between the first and second class is somewhat tight at the moment. As a result, I’ve decide to make the first class a little longer and to start the second class a little later.

So, Ashtanga Basics will run 1800-1915 and Vinyasa Flow will run 1930-2100. I hope this doesn’t cause any inconvenience and I look forward to seeing you on your mats!

Welcome new teacher Lyndsey!

Lyndsey We’d like to extend a very warm welcome to a new and fantastic teacher to the studio….

Lyndsey will be taking over Wednesday lunchtime classes from Wednesday 16 January and Monday lunchtimes from Monday 4 February as Karen focusses on her final term and year at Art School.

Lyndsey is also available for private sessions. Contact us to organise a session.

With a background in the Ashtanga Yoga system and personal experience of gaining huge benefits to her active sports and personal life from yoga, she’ll be an asset to the studio and her lucky students.
